Le grain du papier, l’irrégularité d’une trame, une couture, une déchirure, tout ce que le temps et le hasard inscrivent sur le support guide Patrice Lecomte. S’il n’y a rien, il fabrique des matières en disposant sur la toile des matériaux différents : papiers, tissus, cordes... les recouvre partiellement de blanc et de pâte épaisse. L’aventure commence : choix des couleurs, formes à révéler, matières et lignes. Il creuse l’ombre, met de la lumière, et souligne des signes.

Patrice Lecomte follows the grain of the paper, the irregularity of the weave, a seam, a tear, any clue by which time and chance can mark the support. If there is no trace to follow, he makes his own, arranging various materials upon his canvas, such as, paper, fabric, cord, etc. He then partially covers the work with gesso and modelling paste and the adventure begins : the choices of colour, shape, materials, and lines. He deepens the shadow, reinforces the light, accentuates the symbolic.
